The Ferguson Dancing Team has been in existence since the late 1940s.

In the past they have entered the Highland Games’ Competitions at Harpenden and Richmond as well as other County Dance Competitions held at Tilehurst, Croydon, Brent and Slough.

The Team was formed by Miss Jessa Ferguson, who is still its instructor.

These days the Ferguson Dancers do not perform in Competitions but they continue to dance at the Society’s flagship events – St. Andrew’s Night and Burns’ Supper. They mostly dance 4 couple Scottish Country Dances but also perform Highland dances.

Miss Ferguson has devised many dances that are only performed by the Ferguson Scottish Dancing Team.

The Team is also available for outside functions – Burns’ Suppers, fêtes, birthday parties, dancing at Old People’s Homes and has even performed in front of Royalty!

If a whole evening of ‘Scottish Entertainment’ is required, there are other talented members of the Scots’ Society of St Andrew Slough and District who can be called upon to join the Ferguson Dancers. This extends the dancing repertoire to include singing, recitation of poetry and other entertaining presentations.

If you would like to book the Ferguson Scottish Dancing Team for an event, please contact the Team Manager, Mr. W. Stephen on 01753 863974.
